Phoenix, AZ – Fatal Pedestrian Crash at Deer Valley Rd & 26th Ave

Phoenix, AZ (January 15, 2026) – A woman died Thursday morning after a vehicle struck her near Deer Valley Road and 26th Avenue in north Phoenix.

Police responded to the scene shortly before 6:00 a.m., west of Interstate 17. Officers found the woman seriously injured after the collision. Paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital, where she later passed away from her injuries.

Preliminary information from Phoenix police indicates the woman stepped into traffic in front of a vehicle stopped at a traffic light. The car had been travelling westbound on Deer Valley Road when the crash occurred.

Officers evaluated the driver at the scene.  Authorities have not released the woman’s identity, pending notification of her family.

Investigators continue working to determine the full circumstances leading up to the crash.
